Description

Some of the most beautiful and refined furniture ever made was created in Paris during the eighteenth century. Our enchanting ornament is based on a splendid neoclassical fauteuil, or armchair, in the Museum’s collection. Originally made for King Louis XVI’s Château de Saint-Cloud outside Paris, it was supplied in 1788 by Georges Jacob (1739–1814, master 1765) and gilded by Louis-François Chatard (ca. 1749– 1819). Cast resin. Hand painted. Includes a gold ribbon for hanging. Gift boxed. 4 1/4”H x 2 1/2”W x 2 1/2”D.
