Description

In eighteenth-century France, a proliferation of small tables with specific functions occurred in the French interior design community. Among these new models were dressing tables, bedside tables, various work and game tables, gueridons, and so-called bonheurs-du-jour, or small desks. The production of small luxury pieces mounted with painted porcelain became the specialty of the cabinetmaker Martin Carlin (ca. 1730–1785), one of whose works is adapted in this box of notecards and correspondence cards. Includes 10 notecards (5 each of 2 images), 15 correspondence cards, 14 gift enclosures (7 each of 2 images), 39 envelopes, and 39 self- adhesive seals. Box: 5 1/8”H x 6 3/4”W x 5 1/8”D; notecards: 4 1/4” x 5 3/4”; correspondence cards: 5 3/4” x 3 15/16”; gift enclosures: 2 1/2” x 3”.
