Description

The collection of Asian art at the Metropolitan Museum—more than 35,000 objects, spanning in date from the fourth millennium B.C. to the early twentieth century—is one of the biggest and is the most complete in the West. Each of the numerous civilizations of Asia is represented by exceptional works, serving as an unequaled experience of the artistic traditions of almost half the world.

The exquisite blossoms, leafs, and other motifs featured on these notecards are details from embroidered and woven Japanese silk robes ranging from the early eighteenth to the late twentieth century, all from the Metropolitan Museum’s collection. Includes 20 notecards (5 each of 4 images), 12 gift enclosures (6 each of 2 images), 34 colour-lined envelopes, and 35 self-adhesive seals. Box: 6 1/8”W x 4 1/2”H x 4 3/4”D; notecards: 4” x 5 1/4”; gift enclosures: 2 3/4” x 3 3/4”.
