House of Fabergé
Peter Carl Fabergé (Russian, 18461920), jeweler to the last two czars of the Romanov dynasty, emphasized creativity and workmanship in making his intricate jewelry and objets d’art, which included clocks, enamel cigarette cases, boxes, and frames.
The ladybug design of the Museums charming pendant watch is adapted from the lid of a tiny box made of enamel and diamonds and created by the workshop of Peter Carl Fabergé (Russian, 18461920) in St. Petersburg about 1896 1903. Produced in cooperation with the Cleveland Museum of Art. Made expressly for the Metropolitan Museum in the United States. 18K gold overlay, made with SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS. Quartz movement. Imported.
