Louis C. Tiffany
Although he worked in virtually every decorative medium, Louis Comfort Tiffanys (American, 18481933) designs in glass brought him the most recognition. His painters eye sought greater nuance than traditional stained glass offered, which led him to develop his signature Favrile glass with richer hues and enhanced density.
Featuring lush, radiant colors, the Museums scarf is based on Louis Comfort Tiffanys (American, 18481933) Magnolias and Irises Favrile glass window depicting a picturesque landscape. The window features an embankment of irises beneath flowering magnolia trees. Magnificent purple hills with a central meandering stream, emblematic of the River of Life theme, are set in the background. Silk chiffon. Imported. 17 1/2” x 65”.
