House of Fabergé
Peter Carl Fabergé (Russian, 18461920) was twenty-four years old when he took over his fathers jewellery business in St. Petersburg, Russia. He revolutionised the way jewellery was evaluated in Russia by emphasising the design creativity and workmanship involved instead of just the value of the precious stones and metals. Fabergés studios produced a wide variety of objets dart, including jewelled Easter eggs, clocks, jewellery, boxes, and frames.
The ultimate achievement of Peter Carl Fabergé (Russian, 18461920) is the jewelled Easter eggs made for Czars Alexander III and Nicholas II of Russia. Our luminous bottle stopper is adapted from the sumptuous Lilies-of-the-Valley Egg, which was presented to Czarina Alexandra in April 1898. 18K gold overlay, hand enameled, with crystals. Gift boxed. 3 1/2”L.
