House of Fabergé
Peter Carl Fabergé (Russian, 18461920) was twenty-four years old when he took over his fathers jewelry business in St. Petersburg, Russia. He revolutionized the way jewelry was evaluated in Russia by emphasizing the design creativity and workmanship involved instead of just the value of the precious stones and metals. Fabergés studios produced a wide variety of objets dart, including jeweled Easter eggs, clocks, jewelry, boxes, and frames.
The ultimate achievement of Peter Carl Fabergé (Russian, 18461920) is the jeweled Easter eggs made for Czars Alexander III and Nicholas II of Russia. Our luminous keepsake box is adapted from the sumptuous Lilies-of-the-Valley Egg, which was presented to Czarina Alexandra in April 1898. 18K gold overlay, hand enameled, with crystals and simulated glass pearls. Gift boxed. 1 1/2”H x 2 3/8”L x 1 1/2”W.
