Vincent van Gogh (Dutch, 18531890), the eldest son of a Dutch Reformed minister and a booksellers daughter, pursued various vocations, including that of an art dealer and clergyman, before deciding to become an artist at the age of 27. Over the course of his decade-long career (188090), he produced nearly 900 paintings and more than 1,100 works on paper. Ironically, in 1890, he modestly assessed his artistic legacy as of very secondary importance.
Vincent van Gogh (Dutch, 18531890) made no mention of Bouquet of Flowers, now in the Museums collection, in his correspondence, but, on the basis of style, this still life has been dated to the end of his career. It is believed to have been painted in Auvers, just north of Paris, in the summer of 1890. We have reproduced a detail from this work for our top design. Polyester/Spandex. Slim fit. Cap sleeves.
