From the sixteenth to eighteenth centuries, the city of Cremona in northern Italy was renowned for its expert violin-making. One of its most famous citizens, Antonio Stradivari (Italian, 16441737), created some of the world’s finest Baroque violins.
This exquisite bookmark is based on an original Stradivarius violin that was made in Italy in 1693 and is now in the Museum’s Musical Instruments collection. Silk screened on brass with gold overlay. 1 1/4”W x 4”L.
